Supply Logistics for Automobile Suppliers

Since May 1, 2004 the Takata-Petri factories in Dolni Kalna and Rtyne in the Czech Republic have been using the "DB SCHENKERautomotive sourcing" DB Schenker logistics service for their supply logistics.

The material deliveries to both factories from all over Germany are controlled by  DB Schenker Chemnitz. The administrative project management is carried out centrally by Automotive Transports & Systems, the department for road-related logistics solutions under the
DB Schenker Automotive Logistics umbrella.

Transportation time of a maximum 48 hours
In order to achieve a high level of efficiency and real time delivery management,  DB Schenker collects the goods daily from suppliers and delivers them to the Chemnitz business location which acts as a hub. There,  DB Schenker consolidates the consignments, also on a daily basis, and delivers them directly to the Takata-Petri factories in Dolni Kalna and Rtyne. Here the transportation time from collection of the goods from the supplier to delivery is a maximum of 48 hours.

Since the logistics service provider covers the complete supply chain for Takata-Petri, it is also responsible for the disposal of the empty packaging.  DB Schenker collects the empty packaging from the factories at regular intervals and returns it to the supplier.

Successful collaboration expanded
DB Schenker has been handling supply logistics since April this year for the Takata-Petri factories in Aschaffenburg, Fürth, Albertshausen, Elterlein and Freiburg. Because of this successful collaboration, Takata-Petri decided to use  DB Schenker as its service provider at its Czech site.

Takata-Petri, with its registered office in Aschaffenburg, represents the Takata Corporation Tokyo in Europe. Together with its subsidiary, the corporation is itself  one of the world's leading developers and producers of automobile passenger protection systems.
