Schenker Deutschland AG receives Daimler Supplier Award

The Management Board of Daimler AG gave Schenker Deutschland AG the Daimler Supplier Award 2012 for the outstanding service provided in contract logistics.

Hansjörg Rodi, chairman of the Management Board of
Schenker Deutschland AG, accepted the Daimler Supplier Award at a ceremony in front of about 450 representatives of the major service providers and suppliers and about 200 representatives of Daimler management at the Mercedes-Benz Center Stuttgart. The Daimler Supplier Award is awarded once a year for superior performance in categories such as technology, quality, costs and delivery loyalty.

In granting the award, Daimler explicitly praised the contract logistics of
DB Schenker. Germany's leading provider of integrated logistics received the prize as a long-time successful and reliable partner for four Mercedes-Benz locations in Germany. In Bremen the logistics company bundles assembly and construction parts from numerous suppliers for the nearby production. There are 280 employees of DB who work at the delivery gate of the industrial park to accept trucks loaded with deliveries from suppliers throughout Germany and Europe. They then correctly store steering wheels, axles, shock absorbers and other parts. Upon request they put together the correct module in the assembly series and deliver it in the right sequence to the Mercedes-Benz factory six kilometers away.

In Düsseldorf, DB Schenker specialists prepare the Sprinter from Mercedes-Benz for export to the United States.
DB Schenker supports Mercedes-Benz in the semi knocked down process (SKD). At the Wörth location, Schenker Deutschland AG received the coveted Daimler Supplier Award for partial delivery for the assembly of the power train. In Stuttgart, a space-saving storage concept for SKD chassis and the CKD procedure for top-quality cars received an award (CKD, completely knocked down). In addition, the logistics company developed an innovative loading concept for cars of the C, E and S class. For export to Asia, for example, the capacities of 40-foot sea cargo containers can be better used. The company also manages high-bay storage solutions at both locations.

Wendelin Wolbert, who is head of purchasing for non-production material at Daimler AG, said: "Schenker Deutschland AG is for Daimler a reliable logistics partner that provides outstanding support for our business, with innovative and efficient solutions for our local and global logistics processes."
